TAKBO PARA SA BATA

Dear Friends,

For 2023, one of my resolutions is to get back into running. So I’ve signed up to do the Tokyo Marathon happening on March 5, 2023. Training is hard but what keeps me going is the plight of vulnerable Filipino children. As you know, I’ve done several marathons to help children’s causes through UNICEF. This year, I’m running to raise PHP 1 Million to help abused Filipino children get the support and services they need to heal and recover.

Situation of children

The Council of the Welfare of Children reports that in 2022, there were 9,000 cases of child abuse nationwide. Women and Child Protection Units (WCPUs) have been established to respond to cases, but not all children have the means to go to WCPUs and complete treatment sessions and case management.

How can we help?

Through our donations, children will not need to go and find WCPUs; we can bring child protection closer to them. The funds we raise can help hospital-based WCPUs create satellite centers in targeted barangays known as “TeleCPUs.” These are one-stop centers providing medical evaluation, psychosocial services, and legal services for abused women and children. These are located within the barangays for easier and faster access.

Each TeleCPU has a desktop computer setup with video conferencing and internet connection where abused children can safely and privately access medical, legal, and psychological services for FREE.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help keep TeleCPUs nationwide open and running so that our vulnerable children can get urgent help and start healing from trauma and stigmatization.

I sincerely hope you will join me in giving children practical help and real hope. I pledge to personally match the full amount raised and will donate everything to UNICEF Philippines.
