UNICEF continues to support vulnerable children affected by the Nagorno Karabakh conflict

In response to the findings of a joint needs assessment carried out together with UN sister agencies in 10 priority communities identified by the government, UNICEF provided hygiene kits to 1500 families from Nagorno Karabakh in Jermuk and Yerevan and 300 sets of bed linen and is preparing to distribute another 3000 kits later this week in Goris, Sisian and Kapan communities. 

The package consists of masks and sanitizers to protect against COVID, a toothbrush, toothpaste, wet and dry wipes, baby diapers, lady’s hygiene pads, soap, shampoo, a comb, hand and bath towels, a pair of socks, underwear, scissors, cotton balls, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid and a sponge, betadine all packed in a reusable cloth bag with an informative booklet on COVID-19.

In addition, to these hygiene kits, through its partners, UNICEF is providing psychosocial support to women, children and adolescents affected by the conflict and helping these children continue their education. With the onset of the cold weather, we are planning to provide warm jackets for these children.  More on UNICEF’s interventions in the days to come.
